Revolving Energy Fund

Our Revolving Energy Fund supports renewable energy projects throughout the Loddon Mallee region by providing no-interest (or low-interest) loans, which are paid back via the savings on energy costs. This allows the funds to be reinvested, creating even more clean energy projects!

We’ve already helped finance rooftop solar projects across the Loddon Mallee, including a 50kW system at PepperGreen Farm, a 13kW system at the Red Cliffs Church of Christ, and a 16kW system at Swan Hill Neighbourhood House. Now we need your help to make more of these projects happen.

You can help accelerate Victoria’s transition to a clean energy, low carbon future. Every dollar you give will put more solar on more roofs in the Loddon Mallee region, helping community organisations and local businesses to mitigate rising energy costs and continue to provide for their communities.

Apply for funding!

The Bendigo Sustainability Group is supporting clean energy projects in our community. Community groups, not-for-profits and businesses in the Loddon Mallee who want to reduce energy costs and take action on climate change can apply to us for funding.

Projects can include any works that provide the applicant with savings on energy costs, allowing them to pay the funds back over time – so the funds can then be made available for future projects.

Preference will be given to projects with a clear community benefit, however, businesses are welcome to apply.

Funding is in the form of a no-interest or low-interest loan that is paid back over an agreed period, to a maximum of five years. Low-interest loans apply to businesses; the interest rate will be 0.5% below the current Australian Taxation Office benchmark rate.

Funds from the Revolving Energy Fund could also be used as a co-contribution for another grant application (e.g. a local government grant).

The nature of a revolving fund means there is a limited amount of funding available; the intention is to support more projects once funds have been paid back.

Favourable payback periods (e.g. 2-3 years) will therefore be a consideration when the committee evaluates applications.

Eligibility criteria:

  • A community group, not-for-profit, or business
