The BSG is home to number of action groups who work on specific sustainability issues. Action groups are volunteer lead and hold their own regular meetings and events. The Ironbark Gully Friends
This project aims to construct a shared path along the full length of the Ironbark Gully and to convert some 16ha of disused land alongside the gully into wildlife habitat. Community gardens will also be established.

Boomerang Bags Bendigo
Let’s make Bendigo a plastic bag free city and introduce Boomerang Bags (Now a World-Wide Movement). Produce reusable bags from unused or recycled fabric that can be borrowed and brought back.
