Bendigo Sustainable House Day 2025 - Day 1

  • Welsford forest Wellsford Rd Longlea, VIC, 3551 Australia (map)

Two homes will be shown on the Saturday 23rd of August, in the Wellsford State Forest.

Come along and learn how to upgrade your home or build a new sustainable house with the inspiration of these beautiful mudbrick homes, built by Yvonne George over 40 years ago, nestled in the Welsford forest.

We will share knowledge and experiences in this wonderful example of how humble sustainability, comfort, and creativity can come together. As part of the visit, the flourishing garden rich in biodiversity thrives alongside smart design, discovering practical ways to sustainable living within the forest.

The second event will showcase a similar home, built with mudbricks from the forest, featuring solar panels, batteries, many creatively upcycled gardens and buildings, inspiring examples of recycling and composting, as well as Terry Jarvis’s at home Art Gallery - all just 2km away from the first home. We will facilitate a walk and drive to and from both homes. More information is provided in the event description linked below.

Whether you're renovating, building, or just curious about greener living, you'll find plenty of inspiration here. You’ll also have the chance to meet like-minded people, ask questions, and connect with those passionate about sustainable homes, energy efficiency, and living lighter on the land.

Exact location will be provided after purchasing the tickets, respecting the homeowner privacy.
