Bendigo Sustainable House Day - Behind the Scenes of Strathfieldsayes Street Librarys

  • Strathfieldsaye Australia (map)

Step into a suburban home where sustainability, self-sufficiency and community come together.

Join us for our first Bendigo Sustainable House Day event of 2026 and discover how Bradley has transformed an ordinary suburban block in Strathfieldsaye into an inspiring example of sustainable living, food growing, resourcefulness, and community connection.

This 22-year-old family home shows what’s possible when you make the most of the space you have. Bradley will share how he manages 10 street libraries, 114 garden beds, compost system, chickens, solar and battery, rainwater harvesting and much more, all within a suburban block of just 700 m².

With more than 10 water tanks capturing around 14,000 litres of rainwater, the property produces an abundance of fruit and vegetables, while reclaimed materials have been given new life in garden beds, wicking beds and other DIY projects.

Come along to learn how Bradley has brought together renewable energy, water harvesting, food production, waste reduction, recycling, and community sharing to discover practical ideas you could take home too!

Whether you’re interested in growing your own food, making better use of a small suburban block, or simply curious to see what one household can achieve, this is a home full of ideas, stories, and inspiration.

Spaces are limited — book your place and come see sustainable living, self-sufficiency and community in action!
